11th EACRT Taipei

The 11th East Asia Conference of Radiological Technologists was held on 21st to 22nd February 2009 at Taipei Veterans General Hospital Chi-Ten Building, Taipei, Taiwan. We, twenty four members from Koraean Radiological Technologists Association, attended and enjoyed the Conference with kind Taiwanese and Asians come from other countries for two days. Taipei is a always really attractive and impressive city.  I also felt warm-hearted welcome and had precous memoriesc at this time too. 

We had to take the Star Line which is a subway connected between terminal 1 and 2 and took Thai Air Plane (TG) to depart afternoon after work. There were my friends, Mr. Steven and Miss Chang, waiting us at the Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (臺灣桃園國際機場) for picking up to hotel. It was so thankful.

The Representative's Meeting.

The Representative's Meeting was held at the Taipei 101 which used to be the highest building in the world. It has 101 floors above ground and 5 floors underground. We discussed some agenda concerned about EACRT, International Special Radilogical Technologists (IABSRT), and Asia Supporting Fund at the meeting the day before conference day on the 55th floor. I could not take a whole building picture at once because it is too high. Also, we need the permission to go into the building.

The Welcome Party

After Representative's Meeting, the Welcome Party was at the City Hall just next to Taipei 101 with borad members of Taiwan Society of Radiological Technolopgist (TWSRT) and overseas delegates from Asian countries such as Korea, Japan, Hongkong, Macao, Mongolia, and Australia. Especially, this welcome party was so significant event for not only TWSRT but also us. That was why the president of TWSRT, Ko Ping-yi, was leaving his president position at that day. So they invited some distinguished guset from Asian countries and a lot of delegates came to here to commemorate his leaving.

Volunteering performaces by member of TWSRT were presented in front of all participants at the welcome party. Also a course of cuisines served participants endlessly. There were 12 different cuisines. Unfortunately, I had to meet foreign friends, so, I could have only three or four foods. All people enjoyed the dancing and singing except my song.    

The representatives were drinking a toast to the great success of the conference.

Suddenly, Miss Chang asked me to sing together. I had to do that with her. Actually, my song was terrible, but her song was so great. Finally, I was reallly sorry her for singing better. Anyway It was so nice. I thought that I would have prepared a pop song for that case. Furthermore, I was forecd to dance with dancers on the stage with Robert Goerge. It could show my past when I was young. I do dance a lillte bit.

The Openning Ceremony

Next day, 11th EACRT and 42nd Annual Meeting of TWSRT were opened with Taiwanese traditional style. Some distinguished delegates gave a congratulatory speech and declared the conference open through the breaking big balls. President of KRTA, Cho, gave a plaque of thanks to Ko president of TWSRT for his leaving. We believe that all members of KRTA do not forget him and his achievement in Asia. 

The Scientific International Session

Three internatioanl sessions and their lots of domestic sessions were carryed out all day in many halls. Foreign presenters from Korea and Japan and some Taiwanese gave their presentations in English. Also, lots of questions and answers, comments came out from audience, It was heated discussion. Kim from Korea was awarded first place paper at the international session.

Hospital Tour

We visited Taipei Veterans General Hospital during the conference. Lots of part was closed on Sunday. We only were able to visit general and emergency part. It was as same as here in Korea.

Chu, chairman of International committee of TWSRT, guided us to several places in Taipei. We went to The National Memorial Borad and Natioanl Palace Museum. Actually, I had visited those place before. But It felt me totally different. I uderstood their political and historical situation that is similar to us.  I remembered when I was in military as a guard when I saw the performance.

Foods we had

I could understand more my foreign friends whenever I had their foods. Also, we could get closer by foods. Even it was not my taste, I tryed to eat deliciously and happily. Doing like that made them happy and glad. Food is very vauable experience for me.

Wax apple (蓮霧, 리엔우)

A wax apple (蓮霧, 리엔우) was really delicious fruit that looks an apple but taste is totally different. It is crisp and sweet also has much water as a tropical fruit. Also we had Japanese food such as sushi(寿司), Japanes noodles. The best food was Taiwanese in of couse Taiwan. But I do not know those names except Cho-Tofu (Rotted bean curd, 臭豆腐). We ate Cho-Tofu and some cookeis at the Surin (士林, 스린) night market.

Fragrant Memories

Another pleasant memory has put my life again. Friends I met in Taiwan were so nice. The more we met, the more we could understand each other. We will be glad to see each other in near future again.
