2008 Practical Meeting of the International Accrediation Board for Radiological Technologists (IABSRT) and East Asia Conference of Radiological Technologists (EACRT) 


We, Cho (the president of KRTA), Chang (the director of the committee of Special Radiological Technologists of KRTA), Jeon (scretary of KRTA) and NamKoong (director of International Affairs KRTA), attended the 2008 Practical Meeting IABSRT and EACRT on December 19th to 21st 2008, held at Suzuka University of Medical Science (former Japan Association of Radiological Technologists, Education Centre at Suzuka(鈴鹿市), Mie, Japan.

The Practical Meeting of IABSRT and EACRT is usually held on December every year rotationally in each three countries. This year was a turn of JART. So, they prepared all schedule for the meeting. Firstly, we visited their education centre that is always their pride. To tell the truth, It deserved and I envied it equipped lots of lecture rooms and hall, convenient lounges, guestrooms for educatee.

The lobby was big and luxury as clean as a hotel and some staffs were ready to welcome guests from not only all of Japan but world. I could have felt like studying at there for a long time if it were possible. JART gave its building to Suzuka University of Medical Science this year without any money back. It was free of charge. Because JART is a public association authenticated by Japan goverment, they can not possess any property.

We looked around some educational facilities. There were a lot of radiation equipments such as X-ray, CT, Fluoroscopy, Nuclear Medicine, and Radiotherapy. Also, they were managed very well and so convenient to use anytime for any educatees.

And also, There were a vareity of guestroom looked like single room , twin room, and lady's room in hotel. Moreover, it had a public bath. Apparently, it was a hotel.

The meeting started 4 pm after paying a visit of observation to their education centre. It continued more than 2 hours and  
discussed a plenty of agenda concerned Radiological Technologist's affairs. But there were not any differences among three countries, Korea, Japan, and Taiwan.

Proposal Background: It is too close for the EACRT (Seoul) on early October, so that we have hard time in preparing the EACRT all the time. Finally, we hope to change the date from September to last Sunday on August.

Proposal Background: Currently, the certificate’s color of CT is pink. Actually, the color of pink ribbon represents Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign all over the world. So, we hope that the color of pink should be for Mammographer’s certificate.

(2) Fixing the official language at the international oral session in EACRT

The official language is English at the international oral session.

Proposal Background: Currently, the presenters can present their papers by their mother language such as Korean, Japanese or Chinese at the international oral session in EACRT. Some of KRTA members could not understand Japanese and Chinese presentation and the EACRT will be represented internationally East Asia and more than three countries Korea, Japan, and Taiwan. So we hope the official language should be English at the international oral session. But in representative meeting, we can use any languages according to the situation.

We also enjoyed a lot of delicious cuisines that they prepared at many Japanese famous restaurants. If I visited there by myself, It could not had chances to try and see. It was so rare and precious, really Japanese food and restaurant. These are cuisines I tried  and sightseeing place I went.

When we tried a bowl of eel and rice, there was a way. These are followings: before you start to eat, divide four part of them, and then, Firstly, only eat first part of them, Secondly, eat second part of them with leek and seaweed, Thirdly, eat third part of them put into soup, Fourthly, eat the remaider the way you like. This way made us taste three different savors.

Dinner cuisine

We visited Ise Jinku located lse-shi near by Nagoya. Jinku is a shrine (神祠, 신사) and shows Japanese confidence for their god. Everyone should enter the front gate and wash their hands, and then walk through luxuriant and peaceful forest before meet the god's house. Also, they throw their coin into the god's house that they believe god live there and clapped twice and bow, and then finally, pray for their wishes. So, I did pray for my wishes.

The husband and wife rocks were below Ise-shi city. I though that it was just a rock in anywhere in Korea. However, they tied two rocks with rope and made a traditional story. Finally, a lot of people even from overseas came here to see these rocks, so that they can make a money. It was big deal!

You know? Who made the cultured pearls first in the world? I thought it was Korea. But It was Japan. And here, Mikimoto Pearl Island was where is the home of cultured pearls in the world. Also, I could see many expensive pearls and a woman diver for pearls at there.

We stayed Sima Kanko Hotel where has very beautiful sunset views. It was so beautiful and charming spectacle as a pictures I took. But I guarantee 100% it was not showed its real beautiful sight in the pictures. Real spectacle was much more beautiful than in pictures.

We were happy to eat French cuisine. It was so delicious. Especially, Clab soup and beefsteak were soft enough to melt on my tongue when it came into my tongue. It was really most delicious ever I had. Also, I drank Ashai Beer all the time whenever I have a meal. Japanese realy like to drink a beer at meal time.

I heard Matsuzaka Beef when American Cow Import issued in Korea. It was known very delicious beef as a luxury goods in the world like Wakyu(?) (和牛, 와규). I was lucky that I had tried Matsuzaka Beef at very famous and histroical restaurant where was built 83 years ago " Gyu-Gin" means Cow Sliver. The menu was Sukiyaki and costed 16,301 Yen for each person. I can not believe it. It was so expensive. See the unbelievable price below the menu!

I would like to thank Kitamura, Kimura, Kumagayi and Kikuchi for giving us unforgettable experiences and memories. And It seemed that the more I meet them and visit Japan, the more I am closer to them.
